Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) Housing Services, in conjunction with its housing partners has recently completed a review of the Choice Homes @ Pembrokeshire Housing Allocation Policy.
Following updates to Welsh Government guidance on housing allocations and homelessness, PCC Housing Services has submitted recommendations to Cabinet to amend the existing policy and ensure full compliance with the revised guidance.
In line with the updated Welsh Government requirements, the proposed changes will remove residential connection as a criterion for joining the Choice Homes @ Pembrokeshire Housing Register. This will ensure that all eligible applicants who wish to join the Housing Register can be considered, regardless of their connection to Pembrokeshire.
While the revised guidance enables applicants who are eligible to apply to join the Housing Register, the proposed policy continues to take account of both residential connection and housing need when assessing applications and determining the appropriate priority banding.
The revised Housing Allocation Policy will be considered by the PCC Policy Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 22 October 2026, before being presented to Cabinet for consideration and approval on 2 November 2026.
