Pembrokeshire County Council extends its warmest congratulations to all learners receiving their GCSE and vocational qualification results today (Thursday, August 21st).
This year’s cohort has once again demonstrated exceptional resilience, determination, and achievement across a wide range of subjects.
Cllr Guy Woodham, Cabinet Member for Education and the Welsh Language, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our learners. Their achievements are a testament to their perseverance and the strong support networks around them. As they take their next steps, we wish them every success in their future endeavours.”
Steven Richards-Downes, Director for Education, added: “Today is a celebration of hard work and dedication. We are committed to supporting every learner as they move forward—whether into further education, apprenticeships, or employment. Pembrokeshire offers a wealth of opportunities to help young people thrive.”
Learners are encouraged to explore the wide range of opportunities available locally, including:
- Sixth forms and Pembrokeshire College, offering diverse academic and vocational courses.
- Apprenticeships, providing practical experience and the chance to earn while learning.
- Careers Wales, offering tailored advice and guidance to help learners make informed decisions.
Recognising the pressures that come with exams and transitions, Pembrokeshire County Council is also placing a strong emphasis on mental health and wellbeing.
Support is available through:
- School-based counselling services
- Local youth mental health initiatives
- Online resources and helplines
- Partnerships with organisations such as Mind Cymru and YoungMinds
There is also help available through NHS Wales SilverCloud, which offers flexible, evidence-based online programmes to help young people manage stress, anxiety, and low mood. Students can sign up here
We encourage all learners to prioritise their wellbeing and reach out for support when needed. Success is not just about grades—it's about feeling confident, supported, and ready for the future.
