Gelliswick School celebrates positive Estyn Inspection Report

The report highlights the dedication and commitment of the entire school community and acknowledges the strong relationships that underpin learning across the school. Inspectors recognised the high aspirations shared by staff, governors, parents and carers, and the positive impact these have on pupils’ progress and well-being.

Particular praise was given to the school’s work in supporting all learners, including those with additional learning needs and pupils facing barriers to learning, ensuring every child is valued and given the opportunity to succeed.

The inspection also recognised the school’s strong partnerships with families and the wider community. These relationships help create a supportive environment where children can thrive both academically and personally.

Leanne Prevel, Headteacher at Gelliswick School, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the findings of the report and incredibly proud that it reflects the caring, inclusive and ambitious culture we work hard to create every day at Gelliswick.”

She added: “This inspection is a recognition of the dedication, commitment and hard work of everyone connected with our school. We are particularly pleased that the report highlights our commitment to supporting every learner, ensuring all children feel valued and have the opportunity to succeed.”

Reflecting on the contribution of the wider school community, Mrs Prevel added: “I would like to thank our dedicated staff team, supportive governors, wonderful families and, most importantly, our amazing pupils. Their enthusiasm, kindness, resilience and pride shine through every day and are reflected throughout this report.”

The report also reflects Gelliswick School’s commitment to placing children and families at the heart of its work, fostering a culture where everyone is valued and where pupils are encouraged to have high aspirations for their future.

Looking ahead, the school has pledged to build on its successes while embracing the recommendations outlined in the report.
