Have a say on proposed changes to air quality management areas

Pembrokeshire County Council is inviting residents to take part in a public consultation on the proposed removal of Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) in Haverfordwest and Pembroke.
The Council has a long‑standing commitment to monitoring air quality to help protect public health.
In 2012, several streets in Haverfordwest and Pembroke were designated as AQMAs after assessments showed that air pollution - primarily caused by traffic - could exceed national air quality objectives.
Since then, sustained improvements have been recorded.
Ongoing monitoring has shown that levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) in both locations have remained consistently low and comfortably within national standards.
Contributing factors include improvements in vehicle emissions and smoother traffic flows.
As a result the Council is proposing to revoke the AQMA designations. However, Air quality monitoring will continue.

Residents are invited to complete an online survey by March 20th 2026.
