Haverfordwest Public Transport Interchange opening this week

The Pembrokeshire County Council project has created a modern transport hub with fantastic new bus station and spacious multi-storey car park that will make it easier for people to visit Haverfordwest and connect with bus and other onward transport options.

The facility features wide spaces, upgraded waiting room and public toilets, including a Changing Places toilet, plus dedicated EV charging infrastructure.

It has been backed by £16.894 million of Welsh Government grant funding through the Local Transport Fund and £1.987 million of Pembrokeshire County Council match funding. A further £1.2 million of Transforming Towns funding has supported the HPTI public realm and Prendergast Connectivity Bridge improvements.

Safety and security are key elements of the Interchange, with dozens of high-quality CCTV cameras covering all areas, significantly improved lighting and a caretaker based on site.

The interchange, built by Kier Construction, has been developed to provide significantly improved public transport facilities and is an important part of the regeneration of the County Town.

A Dyfed-Powys Police PCSO will also use the site as a base with a dedicated office.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, Cllr Paul Miller, said: "This project is about much more than a bus station and car park.

“It is about making Haverfordwest easier and more convenient to visit, supporting local businesses and continuing the wider regeneration of our county town.

“Over recent years we have invested significantly in Haverfordwest, transforming previously underused buildings or derelict, improving public spaces and investing in infrastructure. Projects like this create the foundations for future growth and private investment.

“This opening is another important step forward and another vote of confidence in the future of Haverfordwest."

Bus services will begin to use Glan yr Afon/Riverside from Monday, 21 September.

The car park, with its easy to park and pay number plate recognition system, will operate 24 hours with the following charges: 

1 hour - £0.00

2 Hour - £2.00

4 Hours - £3.00

10 Hours -£3.50

24 hours - £4.50

Motorbikes 24 hours - £1.00

Blue Badge Holders will get an extra hour free parking by swiping their Blue Badge bar code at the payment terminal. 

Payment for parking is quick and easy via card – only cashless payments accepted – (card or contactless).  Payment cannot be made using the PaybyPhone parking app.

This car park is pay on return - park up and use the paying terminal when you return to your car by entering your vehicle’s details the machine and the barrier will lift on exit.
