Nearly 40 local organisations have recently benefited from funding via the community element of Second Home Council Tax.

Enhancing Pembrokeshire is designed to support local communities and their wellbeing, using funding from the second home premium, and has distributed more than £5million since it was introduced.

The latest projects to benefit include Blue Horizons CIC and its enhanced inclusive surf therapy programme, Clynderwen playing field, Fishguard Folk Festival, and Forget Me Not Chorus, a special care home singing and wellbeing project.

There were also grants for Poppit Sands Surf Lifesaving Club, Walwyn’s Castle Village Hall and The Sammy-sized Gap, a project delivering countywide training for supporting people bereaved by suicide.

There were more than 100 expressions of interest in the last round, with 37 awarded up to £15,000 towards projects directly supporting their local communities.

Keep an eye out for the next opportunity to apply for Enhancing Pembrokeshire, with the next round coming soon. For further information in the meantime you can contact enhancingpembrokeshire@pembrokeshire.gov.uk

Cabinet Members for Communities Cllrs Aaron Carey and Sam Skyrme-Blackhall both welcomed the latest updates on how Pembrokeshire residents benefit from and urged others to consider whether they have a project that could be in line for support.

“Enhancing Pembrokeshire funding supports an increasingly wide range of projects across the county and there will be many more that will benefit in the future. If you are working with or for your local community, please consider putting in an expression of interest in the next round.

“It is fantastic to see the variety of ways our residents work together to benefit their local areas, and this community element of second home premiums is an important part of supporting that,” they added.
