Pembrokeshire County Council’s Building Control Team is congratulating local construction projects for their success in the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2025.

The LABC Building Excellence Awards are the largest business-to-business awards in the building control sector.

The awards celebrate project teams that have overcome the challenges of complex technical design and construction issues, and they put a spotlight on innovative and creative building work.

In Pembrokeshire, Huw Phillips of Cartrefi Deri Homes Ltd, Gavin Oliver of Billy Studio Architects, Luke Barret of LNB Construction Ltd, and Hmad Architects all achieved success with some high-profile local projects.

At the Regional All Wales LABC Building Excellence Awards 2025, Morwennau in Poppit, won Best Individual New Home, with work carried out by Cartrefi Deri Homes Ltd and agents Billy Studio Architects.

LNB Construction Ltd, with agents Hmad Architects, won the Welsh Regional award for Best Residential Conversion or Alteration to an Existing Home with Mill Lodge, Solva.

Both projects went forward to the Grand Finals at Grosvenor House in London, where the top projects from across the UK were celebrated.

Council Building Control Manager Korey Batchelor said: “Building Control is delighted to work on these projects, which highlight the skill and innovation of local developers.

“Pembrokeshire County Council Building Control is proud to be part of the LABC Awards. The Local Authority Building Control (LABC) awards were set up to celebrate excellence achieved through high building standards, technical innovation, and sustainable design.

“The awards are an opportunity for the industry to celebrate good building practice, with winners proving that positive working relationships with local council building control teams achieve high-quality, sustainable buildings.

“These awards are unique because they recognise how this cooperation improves building standards and professionalism across the industry, and it is great to see local contractors, agents, and designers within Pembrokeshire receive recognition for achieving these standards.”
