Narberth Community Primary School is celebrating its latest Estyn inspection report which recognises the school as “a happy, inclusive, bilingual community.”
The positive report highlights that nearly all pupils make strong progress and flourish in a caring and supportive environment.
It’s success as a dual stream school, where both Welsh and English language provision thrive within a fully inclusive community is also praised by the national school standards body.
Also highlighted in the report is the school’s nurturing ethos, high-quality teaching and strong leadership, as well as the commitment of leaders, governors and staff in ensuring that all pupils succeed.
Inspectors found that nearly all pupils, including those with additional learning needs (ALN) and those from low-income households, “make strong progress from their starting points” and “demonstrate an excellent attitude towards their learning.”
Headteacher, Mrs Kate Moore, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with this report and incredibly proud of what has been achieved together as a whole school community.
“This recognition reflects the dedication, teamwork and passion of our staff, governors, pupils and families. At Narberth Community Primary School, we are committed to creating a caring, inclusive and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.
“This report celebrates the exceptional efforts of our entire staff team, whose commitment to our pupils is evident every single day. I am immensely proud of the way colleagues work together to provide high-quality learning experiences and support every child to achieve their potential. We are also deeply grateful to our governors, parents and wider community for their continued support.”
Inspectors noted the school’s highly engaging curriculum, rooted in the local area and designed to give pupils ownership of their learning, with staff keen to “encourage pupils to see themselves as valuable citizens of their locality, Wales and the wider world.”
The report also recognised the school’s innovative approach to bilingual education and language development in the early years. Staff were commended for effectively promoting Welsh language development through play and daily learning opportunities, helping pupils “express themselves in Welsh with increasing confidence.”
A key strength identified by Estyn was the effective teamwork and leadership throughout the school. The report states: “The headteacher has a clear vision for the school based on high expectations of all within a caring and supportive ethos.”
