Partnership working recognised at National Excellence Awards

Pembrokeshire County Council, alongside key partners Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) and Citizens Advice Pembrokeshire (CAP), is celebrating after being shortlisted as a finalist in the Improving in Partnership category at the prestigious Celebrating Excellence in Welsh Local Government Awards 2026.
Held at Swansea's Brangwyn Hall on Thursday 17 September, the awards recognise the outstanding work, talent and innovation taking place across local government in Wales, as well as the dedicated individuals who deliver services for communities throughout the year.
While the award ultimately went to another organisation, reaching the finals is a significant achievement and reflects the strength of partnership working across Pembrokeshire. The nomination recognised the collaborative efforts of Pembrokeshire County Council, the Public Services Board (PSB), third-sector organisations and community groups, all working together to improve outcomes for local people.
The partnership was commended for its innovative approach to working across organisational boundaries, bringing together the expertise and resources of multiple agencies to address shared challenges and deliver lasting benefits for communities. Through a shared vision, strong leadership and a commitment to collaboration, partners have improved access to support, helped build community resilience and ensured residents can access the right help at the right time.
Cllr Marc Tierney, Cabinet Member for Young Persons & the Well-being of Future Generations and Chair of Pembrokeshire Public Services Board, said: "We are delighted that this partnership has been recognised on a national stage. The nomination is a testament to what can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared purpose and commitment to supporting our communities.

The WLGA's Celebrating Excellence Awards showcase outstanding practice from across Wales and highlight the innovation, dedication and impact of local government services and partnerships.
The partnership's success demonstrates the value of collective action in tackling complex challenges and reinforces the commitment of all organisations involved to continue working together for the benefit of Pembrokeshire's residents and communities.
