Sport Pembrokeshire hosts successful Community Clubs event in Haverfordwest

The event brought together children from Fenton, Mary Immaculate, Redhill, St Marks and Waldo Williams Primary Schools for a morning of fun, activity and discovery.

Pupils had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports sessions delivered by local clubs.

Activities included tennis with Haverfordwest Tennis Club, cricket with Haverfordwest Cricket Club, bowls with Haverfordwest Bowls Club, basketball with Tritons Basketball Club and golf with Haverfordwest Golf Club.

The sessions were supported by enthusiastic Young Ambassadors from Haverfordwest High VC School, who played an important role in helping deliver the activities and encouraging participation.

The event aimed to introduce children to local sporting opportunities and inspire them to get involved in community clubs. It provided an inclusive environment where all participants could try something new and build confidence through sport.

Dan Bellis from Sport Pembrokeshire said: “It was lovely to see so many children taking part in a wide variety of engaging and inclusive activities.

“A great time was had by all and we hope that some children have found a new passion and will join a local club on the back of today.

“A big thanks to all the schools who attended, the coaches who delivered the sessions and the Young Ambassadors from Haverfordwest High for their help, as well as to Morrisons and Princes Gate for kindly providing refreshments.”
