The Pembrokeshire Eco Park was officially opened by Llyr Gruffydd AS/MS, Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability, Welsh Government, on Tuesday 18 August 2026.

The new Eco Park, which has been operational since 14th November 2024, represents a significant investment in Pembrokeshire's environmental future, providing modern facilities that support sustainable waste management, resource recovery and the transition towards a more circular economy.

During the opening ceremony, Minister Llyr Gruffydd joined the Council’s Cabinet Member for Resident Services Cllr Rhys Sinnett, local authority officers, partners and stakeholders to celebrate the completion of the facility and recognise its importance in helping Pembrokeshire reduce waste, increase recycling and support Wales' ambitious sustainability goals.

The Eco Park has been designed to maximise the value of materials collected across the county, helping to reduce environmental impacts while improving operational efficiency and supporting cleaner, greener communities.

Cllr Rhys Sinnett, Cabinet Member for Resident Services, said: "The Pembrokeshire Eco Park is a major milestone in our commitment to creating a more sustainable future for our county. This facility will help us manage resources more effectively, support our environmental ambitions and provide long-term benefits for residents and communities across Pembrokeshire.

“We are delighted to welcome Llyr Gruffydd to officially open the Eco Park and mark this important achievement."

Speaking ahead of the event, Llyr Gruffydd, Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability, said: "The Pembrokeshire Eco Park shows how local authorities can collect materials for recycling and keep them in Wales, and by doing so, help local businesses grow.

“It will help Pembrokeshire remain one of the best local authorities in Wales for recycling and keep Wales the second-best performing nation globally for recycling.

“Congratulations to Pembrokeshire County Council for building this important new facility.”

The Eco Park will support Pembrokeshire County Council's wider commitment to environmental stewardship, carbon reduction and sustainable service delivery, helping ensure resources are used efficiently for the benefit of current and future generations.
