Clubs, bats and racquets were the order of the day as more than 100 school children tried their hands at golf, cricket and tennis last month.

Sport Pembrokeshire ran a Community Clubs event at Haverfordwest Tennis Club for Year 3&4 children from Fenton, Waldo Williams, Mary Immaculate and Redhill Schools.

Haverfordwest Tennis Club helped the youngsters get to grips with forehands and backhands while Haverfordwest Golf Club took pupils through the basics of putting and a good golf swing.

Sport Pembrokeshire provided information leaflets on how to continue to take part in the sports the children had enjoyed and feedback was of a positive and enjoyable event.

Dan Bellis of Sport Pembrokeshire, said: ‘It was fantastic to see so many boys and girls enjoying themselves in glorious sunshine!

“A big thank you to Haverfordwest Tennis Club for providing the venue and to all the deliverers for providing the opportunity. We hope that some of the children will feel inspired to join a local Community Club.”
