Pembrokeshire County Council’s Cabinet approved ten applications from local groups for funding from Enhancing Pembrokeshire, the community element of Second Home Council Tax.

The approvals include one, from Haverfordwest Tennis Club, which had been narrowly rejected by the application panel.

Cabinet members discussed the recommendations made by the panel and voted to support all the applications with a total of £560,032 to be distributed.

The ten projects include Fishguard and Goodwick Young Persons Project, Arts Care Gofal Care, Garth Youth and Community Project, PACTO, Acts West Wales, Fishguard Sea Cadets, Pembroke Dock Cricket Club, PLANED, Kilgetty Begelly Community Council and Haverfordwest Tennis Club.

Grants ranging from £31,000 to £100,000 were awarded approved by Cabinet on Monday, 4th November.

Cabinet Member for Communities Cllr Neil Prior said: “Since Enhancing Pembrokeshire was introduced the extra Second Home Council Tax premiums have seen nearly £4.5million of grants awarded to local communities to support their well-being. With match funding that means just under £9million in the last six years, making a real and valuable difference to local residents.”
